Des Moines, Iowa-If you are in charge of Thanksgiving groceries, you may not be grateful for the price on the receipt.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics economist Catherine Malles said: "This year, consumer spending on the same basket of goods and services has increased by 5.4% compared to last year."

The latest data from BLS shows that at the same time last year, the average number of items purchased by shoppers in the same shopping cart increased by about 5.4%.

But what does this mean for some of the main Thanksgiving staples?

"Their uncooked poultry, including turkey, rose 1.7%," the man said. "Potatoes also rose by 1.7%. Our frozen snacks, our frozen or chilled bakery products, pies and pies, and turnover increased by 4.1%."

According to the latest data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the following is the growth of some other staple foods: canned vegetables rose 6.6%, canned fruits rose 2.9%, bread rose 2.3%, ham rose 7.1%, and sauces and gravies rose 1.8%. So although your receipt may look slightly taller, can you find all the items you need?

Kurt Crist, Fareway's grocery store manager, said: "To be honest, there is no shortage of these items for people to use." "Fareway has a great purchasing department to make sure we buy enough products in advance. Know that the holidays are coming to ensure that when customers come to pick up their holiday items, we have what they need."

Crist, the grocery store manager for the Fleur Drive store in Des Moines, said that shoppers should trust that the store will have all the supplies they need throughout the holiday. "We are very fortunate to be in the Midwest," he said. "I mean meat and produce and many needed items are in our backyard. If we run out of things, it will be easier to get these items to make sure we have what our customers need." Customers who take the turkey do not need to worry.

"We have a lot of turkeys. So if you need a turkey, you can still get one on [Monday], [Tuesday], Wednesday. It's okay, we will get it."
